The Office of Commuter Affairs is staffed by people who understand the challenges of the commuting experience. They are dedicated to facilitating a supportive and positive environment for growth and development beyond the classroom. For more information, please visit www.commuteraffairs.duq.edu or contact 412.396.6660.
The Commuter Assistant Program is a supportive network of upper-class students who serve as student advisors and provide resources for new undergraduate and transfer commuters. Commuter Assistants (CAs) plan activities, provide information and supply encouragement for a group of new commuter students in the same academic school. Commuter Assistants maintain regular contact and communications with the students in their CA group.
Located on the first floor of the Duquesne Union, the Center provides a great deal of space and several services for Duquesne’s commuting population. The Lounge includes comfortable furniture, a television, a refrigerator and a microwave. The Center also offers commuting students a quiet study room along with a computer lab that has 20 work stations. The Office of Commuter Affairs hopes that the Commuter Center will become a commuter student’s “home away from home.” Spending time in the Center is a great way to meet other students and find out what is happening at Duquesne.
The Office of Commuter Affairs is willing to assist commuter students with parking and transportation information, off-campus housing information, intramural programs, Commuter Assistant programs, commuter and family programming and many other programs and services.
All commuting students are invited to attend Commuter Day held on Tuesday, August 18, 2009. Taking part in the event will give commuters the opportunity to become familiar with their CAs, the Office of Commuter Affairs staff and other commuter students. More information will be sent from the Office of Commuter Affairs.
