Burgh Bucks

Burgh Bucks are the official currency of Orientation 2009. Students can earn Burgh Bucks throughout the week by attending events, meeting new people and getting involved in Orientation.

Burgh Bucks can then be used during the Burgh Bucks Auction on Sunday, August 23, 2009 to bid on tons of prizes. Check back for more information as the prizes start rolling in!

History of the Burgh Buck

Years ago, the park management and employees of Duquesne University took notice of enthusiastic students and developed a system to reward them. It was a system designed to reward thrill-seekers in the community who took it upon themselves to RIDE more.

They rewarded the students with “Burgh Bucks,” a system to benefit new students who accepted Duquesne not only as a school, but as a home. The staff opened a store and held an auction on the last day of summer so the students could spend their well-deserved Burgh Bucks.

The college experience is an eye-opening one; Duquesne provides not only education, but challenges the minds, bodies and spirits of its new students.

The Bluff serves as a venue for excitement, for administration, faculty, staff and all students. The Orientation program serves as the entrance to the amusement park of Duquesne.

Students get their kicks at Duquesne by taking the rides of major and class selection. The Orientation program encourages students to take the lead and ride in the front seat to take the fullest experience from Duquesne that they can, because the ride is bumpiest in the back seats.

Over the years, many students had wonderful experiences in Orientation and wanted to help give other students the same chance they had. These people make up the Orientation staff, from the Director and Assistant to the chairs and team leaders.
